Edit: It appears the information online about the "3 dot overflow menu" is incorrect. You actually have to press and hold on a book before any options show up. Personally, I don't like this method. Searches show there should be an overflow menu for each book to do things like download, remove from library, etc. But there is no such option for my books. All I can do is select and read them. My library is filled with samples from many many years ago and I can't remove them from my library.

I cannot download the ebooks I have purchased for some reason. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but it didn't work. It keeps saying "The book cannot be downloaded right now. Try again later." It's been like this all day. This is the first time I am having such an issue with google books. I can still download the samples of unpurchased ebooks though. This is very strange. Help. (april, 2025) issue seems fixed, not too sure how though, still a little slow, rating changed to 4 stars

The library, sorting, purchasing, and reading options are great. There is a big caveat, though. I am a highlighter, and the functionality is clunky. By far the worst of any reading app, and I use 6 on regular rotation. Dictionaries, downloads, etc. shouldn't need to be cleared to highlight. Holding my finger down and dragging across the text should be all that's necessary. I quite literally stopped reading my book to write this because of my frustration.
